When two tectonic plates with land on them crash into each other, the crust crumples and buckles, forming a mountain range. A good example of this is the Himalayan mountains created when the Indian and Eurasian plates began to collide about 55 million years ago. This mountain range is still growing upwards as the plates continue to push together, so that Mount Everest is actually growing a tiny bit taller each day!
