I love my job and am mostly very excited by all the exploration, discovery, discussion, learning, teaching, and travel, but I admit that sometimes I can get tired of my job especially when the workload becomes too much, when my experiments seem to keep failing, or when my efforts to publish a scientific article or get research funding are not successful. These ups and downs are all a part of doing science though, and as long as I accept that and enjoy what I’m doing overall, then I would feel very lucky to continue being a scientist for the rest of my career!
